Entry-level litigation attorney job in Chicago

Two experienced trial attorneys seeking an associate with 0-3 years' experience, to aid and assist with all aspects of a small litigation practice. Civil rights' side of practice focuses on police misconduct cases and criminal side focuses mostly on felony matters at 26th and California. Firm tries several cases a year and the associate will receive a great deal of litigation and trial experience. In addition to bench and jury trials, the associate will have a chance to participate in client and witness interviews, case investigations, depositions, trials, motion practice, jail visits, scene visits, and settlement conferences. He or she will be expected to assist with all aspects of the discovery process and will also be expected to conduct legal research and draft legal memorandum.

All applicants should have a sincere interest in working to defend the rights of underprivileged individuals, should harbor a sense of righteous indignation about the abuse of power, and share our commitment to seeking justice for our clients.

All applicants should have above-average legal writing skills, very good organizational skills, exhibit an attention to detail, and should not consider themselves above any task (because in a small law practice you have the opportunity to do the exciting jobs right along with the boring hand-deliveries).

Interested candidates should submit a resume, a writing sample, and cover letter explaining why they are interested in working with our firm, via email.

Location: Downtown Chicago, IL
Compensation: 32K/year plus yearly bonuses based on firm's income and merit - Fridays off - no benefits
