Intern will receive training in (1) Initially evaluating all type of cases, (2) Writing correspondence and legal motions, (3) Completing forms and other legal applications/petitions, (4) Interviewing clients, going to court, visiting clients in prison, (5) Working with governmental agencies and (6) Assisting in analyzing & investigating cases in preparation for trial.
A strong letter of recommendation will be provided upon request and successful completion of internship. An Evaluation and Exit Interview will be conducted and intern will be considered for a formal offer of employment at conclusion in NYC, Taipei or Beijing.
Law firm can provide academic credit under school program as internship, externship or OPT. Please note that this is an unpaid position to gain valuable experience only.

Human rights law job in NYC
NYC attorney seeks recent law graduates and/or current law students (2L or 3L) to assist with several pro-bono legal research and drafting projects related to international development and human rights. Candidates must be able to demonstrate course work and/or experience in International, Foreign and Comparative Law, including International Human Rights Law. Candidates must be currently enrolled in or have already earned their J.D./LL.M from an ABA accredited law school. Prior research/publications in human rights or international public law is an asset. This is a non-paid/volunteer/pro-bono position, but will give successful candidates an opportunity to gain experience with international development policy across several substantive areas and topics. Selected candidates will be required to attend an orientation meeting in NYC (Manhattan) in mid-June 2010 and remain in contact with the lead attorney via email and Internet throughout summer 2010 while working on the project.
