Per diem attorney jobs in Middle Atlantic region

We are looking for attys to handle hearing appearances. Majority of them are credit card collection cases in Civil Court, however, we do expungements in Criminal Court as well. They are mostly at the lower court level, but some at the higher level. We pay per appearance with no additional for travel or expenses. There is no prep work involved except for printing the emailed docs and taking them to court with you. You will be expected to review the docs prior to the hearing so you are aware of what the case involves. The only thing expected after the hearing is an email advising of the results within 24 hours of the hearing. We require monthly invoicing at the end of the month / first week of following month. You will be paid within 30 – 60 days from the invoice. The invoices are required to have the county and court, name of the case, results and who the client was. We do not pay much, but it is a great way to litigate each day and make a little extra money. We do not require a lot of litigation experience, and the cases certainly do not require an LLM, however, you have to have a "backbone." Some of our clients have assignment cases. Accordingly, there might not be a lot of supporting docs, as the debts may have originated with a company that no longer exists. You have to be able to handle yourself when that happens, and, as well as be willing to learn how to introduce documents without a witness, etc. You need to know the local rules. You have to be able to think on your feet and to "roll with the punches". There are no roadmaps given with the assignments. We need you to be a lawyer. We cannot guarantee a case load. We are looking for handling attorneys in each and every county throughout the state. We are continuing to grow at a rapid pace. We will eventually be handling other states as well. If you handle cases in a bordering State, this may be beneficial to you in the long run as well. Currently we serve NY, NJ, PA, DE, MD & DC.  Compensation: MINIMAL.

Attorney job near Boston

I am a partner in a 25 atty Boston firm, but I spend about half my time in my Westwood home office. I have a lot of litgation matters (mostly business and employment litigation, some PI). I am looking for someone with perhaps +5 years of good civil litigation experience to help me catch up on my billable cases and to push my contingent fee cases. I have one big case in particular that needs a lot of attention, and I just can't seem to get to it.

I need a self starter who does not need a lot of guidance. This would be great for someone who lives near me and can meet up with me occasionally to discuss cases, exchange files/documents, etc. I am not looking for someone to come downown and work set hours, I just need someone who can work on their own and turn around a deliverable, e.g., a research memo, paper discovery, documents associated with motion practice. Perhaps a stay-at-home parent who is looking for a part-time gig, working hours whenever he/she can fit them in.

I'd like to try this out for the summer, and if it's a good fit, we could discuss making it a little longer term.

If interested, please email me a resume, indicate where you live, detail your flexibility, and maybe let me know what you are looking for ideally.

Compensation: $25 to $35 per hour

Entry-level legal advocate job in DC

We are a small law firm in the DC metro region (Metro accessible) seeking an enthusiastic, independent, and dedicated writer to advocate on behalf of disabled individuals. Although this position has been filled by attorneys in the past, we have found that candidates who have recently completed their undergraduate studies can do just as well, if not better. However, only top candidates need apply. Therefore, we ask that you include your GPA in your resume.

This job requires far more responsibility than a typical entry-level position, but our employees have found it to be worthwhile and meaningful. At times, this position may require long hours (50 hour weeks are not uncommon), although your time management skills may allow you to keep relatively low hours.

Candidates must have demonstrably excellent writing skills (top candidates will be asked to take a writing test). Additionally, we are seeking individuals who are capable of developing a strong rapport with our clients, are determined to help our clients--many of whom are in significant distress, and care about the quality of their work.

The starting salary is $35k, as the first year requires a significant amount of training, but we offer generous annual salary reviews and bonuses, and excellence is noticed and rewarded. Our firm is relatively small, and there is certainly room for advancement as we grow. We will also support employees who wish to go to law school in the future.

If interested, please send a resume and cover letter to the email included with this advertisement. We expect a fairly quick turnaround, and will contact you shortly if we would like to interview you.
