Entry-level attorney job in Princeton, NJ

We are a growing 7-attorney law firm with offices in Princeton, NJ and Newtown (Bucks County), PA and are seeking an entry-level associate to join our business litigation practice. Admission or awaiting admission in New Jersey and Pennsylvania is a must. You will work primarily in our Princeton office. We also have an office in Newtown, Bucks County and anticipate that a significant portion of our future growth will be in Pennsylvania. Some exposure to Pennsylvania practice is preferred, whether it be as a law clerk, an intern, or through having attended a Pennsylvania law school.

The firm has been in business for over 12 years and has grown from 2 lawyers to soon-to-be 8. We are a general practice firm with a practice mix of approximately 70% business and 30% consumer clients. Collegial atmsophere and business casual working environment. That said, we do work and expect our lawyers to work long hours.

Community involvement is important to us, and it is essential that our attorneys live in or near the communities in which we practice. Residence in, or demonstrable evidence of a willingness to relocate to Bucks or Mercer Counties or Greater Princeton area would be a big plus. In addition to being proficient and well-respected in their law practices, our lawyers are leaders in churches, charitable organizations and local government.

Please respond with a letter of interest and/or resume to the blind email address. We will respond to candidates of mutual interest by email and will direct you to our web site and request that you email us directly if you would like to interview with the firm. Thank you.

Location: Princeton, NJ / Newtown, PA
Compensation: $52,000 +

  1. i wouldnt call this a "sh*t" law job by any means. unlike a document review or personal injury mill, it seems like this firm has some sort of substantive law areas that they actually want to teach an entry-level associate.

the salary is excellent for an entry-level position in the tri-state area (the only entry-level attorney positions that would pay substantially more than 50k are "big law" associate positions in large (>50 attorneys) firms, and many of these positions disappeared since the beginning of the economic depression in 2008 & 2009.

it says that the hours are long, but it sounds like the partners have some sort of civic / religious / personal life outside of their legal careers, and are looking for someone who has or would want to develop local ties as well.

this would be a dream job for me, unfortunately the link on craigslist is now gone, so i cant apply.

  2. you either work for the firm or are deluding yourself. ppl don't spend 150k+ and 3 years in law school for these kinds of jobs. you can get a bettr job than this with just a bachelor's in poli sci. this isn't the shittiest job i've seen, but it's shitlaw nonetheless.
