Immediate available Attorney Internship in a busy small downtown Oakland based law firm with satellite office in San Francisco.
Must be interested in general practice areas including Family, Immigration (Family & Employment Petition, Asylum & Removal Defense), Personal
Bankruptcy (Chapter 7), Personal Injury, Eviction, Wage & Hour, Wills & Trust, Real Estate/Business/Civil Litigation etc.
Will provide full training from daily law office general tasks to preparing motions, depositions, trial & appeals.
The right candidate should be:
* possess excellent communication, research & writing skills
* flexible personality, enjoy working with people & willing to walk extra miles for others
* sense of humor
* punctual (or you will be sanctioned by the Judge !)
* fast learner,detailed-oriented, super hard worker
* able to work independently within rigorous legal deadlines
* ready to make a long term career commitment, as oppose to a taste of temporary job
* interest in working in a solo or small law office
* foreign language in Spanish or Chinese a big plus, or willing to learn these languages
* Cal. bar admittee
* avail to start working immediately
* able to work Mon to Fri 9 am to 5:30 pm, and occasional evening or weekend hours.
Pay structure: 4 weeks voluntary internship, thereafter a monthly modest stipend. The goal is to complete the internship program in 10 months and learn all the necessary skills to become a valuable associate/ junior partner of the firm with generous profit-sharing compensation.
Some litigation experience will be super helpful. Suitable for someone who is ready to make a long term life commitment and to improve oneself to be a successful attorney-litigator. You can be a new lawyer with outstanding intelligence, or an experienced attorney looking to switch career, or a solo looking to expand your practice.
