Our client in the East metro is seeking a 3+ year attorney with sophisticated worker's compensation experience for a contract to full-time position.   1. $25/hr x 40/hrs/week x 50 weeks/yr = $50,000 /yr. Maybe not going to break the bank, but if one is willing to apply in the first place, then its probably a good deal for that person.

You could say that about the jobs that pay minimum wage - and there are many of those on this site... I'm sorry, but 50k per year for someone with a JD and 3+ years of "sophisticated experience" in a specialized area is pretty disheartening.
